Natco Community Empowerment Center

Natco Community Empowerment Center (NCEC) is now scheduling one-on-one appointments and also taking reservations for using the computer workstations. To make an appointment, simply call (765) 983-4766.

The NCEC is open to all members of our community. Our mission is ‘Helping people live better lives’.

Our various no-cost programs and services include connections to local immediate need resources/assistance programs, job seeking assistance, money management counseling, trainings/classes/workshops and much more. All services are individualized and based around the needs and plans of the individual. Programs and services are provided in part through funding from the United Way.

The NCEC will provide a comfortable environment that provides computers with Internet, assistance in using the computers, access to a copy machine and a shredder all at no cost to members of our community.

FREE FINANCIAL FITNESS SESSIONS

We are excited to offer financial fitness webinars and in-person sessions to individuals and families in our community for free! Theses no-cost sessions last 60 minutes and provide information on a variety of financial topics. We are confident you will leave the session with some useful and practical tips to use in your own life. Registration is required.

Bridges Out of Poverty

If you have not spent time living in poverty you may not understand, or even be aware of, the “hidden rules” that run the lives of many people who struggle daily to make ends meet.

Most people in poverty are in survival mode, struggling to pay bills, feed their family, provide health care to their children, fighting to survive ONE DAY AT A TIME. Many of the support systems that are available to those in middle class and wealth are not available to those living in poverty.

If you would like a deeper understanding of these daily struggles, as well as the unbelievable strength of those living in poverty, this training is for you. This two hour training will allow you to walk away with:

A better understanding of the mental models of poverty, middle class and wealth
An awareness of the hidden rules of all economic classes
A better understanding of the struggles people in poverty experience understanding of the resources needed to have a thriving life
You will also learn different ways our community addresses poverty and how you can be involved.

THRIVING…One Step At A Time

Do you have dreams? Now is the time to make them your reality!
This 15 week small group training is developed to support you in taking those dreams, turning them into short-term and long-term goals and then taking action.

You will have support, instruction and motivation along the way to help you achieve your future story!

This course will provide you with resources, knowledge and support to grow, excel and make your dreams a reality!

Meal Planning

Thinking about what to fix for dinner? Did you forget to lay something out? Too tired to cook? Sick of take out?

Come learn how to take the guessing game out of dinner. During our meal planning class you will learn things like how to plan meals around weekly sale ads, cook once eat twice, meal prepping, preparing freezer meals, and much more. You will have the opportunity to receive incentives and giveaways during each session!

Sewing to Save

“WE’RE BRINGING SEWING BACK…”

Come and learn basic sewing skills to extend the life of any clothing. Learn how to replace buttons, zippers, hemming and even how to patch clothing. You will also learn many techniques and trendy tricks to take old clothing and make new styles! This course is fun, interactive and guaranteed to save you and your family money for years to come!

Biz Kid$

Biz Kid$ is a financial literacy initiative created by a coalition of over 300 credit unions and affiliates from across the country. This coalition of credit unions have helped exclusively fund Biz Kid$ since its launch in January 2008.

Biz Kid$ is an educational resource in the areas of financial literacy, personal economics and entrepreneurship education for grades 6-12. Students are taught lessons through award winning TV series, free classroom curriculum, outreach activities, a website and a social media presence targeting children 9-16 years old.

Every Biz Kid$ episode begins and ends with a narrator reminding viewers that: “Production funding for Biz Kid$ is provided by America’s Credit Unions, where people are worth more than money.”

What is poverty?

Natco Community Empowerment Center invites you to “walk a mile” in the shoes of those facing poverty.

Living in Poverty – The Experience will provide you the opportunity to assume the role of a low-income family member living on a limited budget. Will you be able to pay all your living expenses? Feed your family? What if you become sick, will you be able to afford medicine? Flat tire? Will you have the money to fix it or will you have to ride the bus? Sign up for this interactive experience and learn about the challenges, struggles and constant barriers that people in the poverty environment have to overcome to make ends meet.
